Definitions of spirituality.
The quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.
"the shift in priorities allows us to embrace our spirituality in a more profound way"
Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself, something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is cosmic or divine in nature.
Spirituality means different things to different people. For some, it's primarily about a belief in God and active participation in organized religion. For others, it's about non-religious experiences that help them get in touch with their spiritual selves through quiet reflection, time in nature, private prayer, yoga, or meditation. To most people spirituality implies something metaphysical. Even the above definition of spiritual includes "spiritual self" which implies a self and something metaphysical.
Rather than use the term spirituality I would like to use the term Non-selfism, an awareness, a consciousness that is developed within "Enlightenment, Meditation and Mindfulness: A Guide to Existence, Enlightenment and Spirituality" which is added to rather than re-written.
Mindfulness could be defined as a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
Non-dualism is focused on one's awareness on the present moment without consciousness of the past or future. It is a state without the ego's comparison of the past and future, without possessiveness and desire. Within this state one may be able to experience beauty and joy. It is a state where the self and the concept of soul fades away. This book may help you experience non-dualism.
"Enlightenment, Meditation and Mindfulness: A Guide to Existence, Enlightenment and Spirituality" is written with the bias that there is something to be enlightened about and one can study and practice to have enlightenments one after another.
