Free Will

Choice is an absurd concept if free will doesn't exist.  If there is no free will, it doesn't matter if we think that we are acting as if there is free will or not.  There is no choice without free will.

The questions we ponder only make sense if there is free will.  Therefor we have to act as if we think there is free will.

So what do we do if we are one of many or knowing that you have already made every choice that can happen and that all futures have already happened.

This time do you want this self that is "you" to experience pleasure or pain now in this moment or endure pain for the sake of the next moment? 

Intelligence is everywhere.  It exists even in single celled organisms.  

Single-celled amoebae, that have existed for 600 million to 1 billion years, can remember, make decisions and anticipate change, urging scientists to rethink intelligent behavior.

Intelligence is everywhere, in this universe, and in every universe that can ask this question.

Intelligence has certain evolutionary advantages.  

The universe will evolve into a universe where intelligent beings design their own genome.

Pain and suffering for these beings will be mitigated and possibly a matter of choice to experience what the life of ancient animals was like.

We can fight over whether we should be able to design our own genome or our planet can be destroyed but intelligent life will persevere.

Maybe we are a virtual being created by ourselves for the purpose of our own education, memory or entertainment or maybe we are a mechanism of DNA for the sole purpose of creating more DNA.

Regardless of which it is we can make a choice;  override the instructions of DNA and live as joyous a life as we can and also to design our own DNA for the purpose of living a joyous life or suffer.  Either way joy seams to make more sense.

The ending to House’s series finale is like BBC’s Sherlock Season 2 Episode 3 (The Fall of Reichenbach) meets the series finale for Queer as Folks (the UK version). House fakes his death, and he and Wilson ride off into the sunset together (at least until Wilson dies)
