Old Age

Old Age

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

DylanThomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

In old age you make many friends.  They just happen to be in your head.

We know we are dying, we just don't know when.

You know that you are alive, you just don't know that your dead.

Inside of every old person is a young person wondering how this happened.

Having been weak it was quite an adjustment to be powerful.

Having been powerful, it's quite an adjustment to being weak.

Pneumonia can be an old man's friend.

Each of us handles old age in our own way.

Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets.

Old age is like a plane flying through a storm. Once you're aboard, there's nothing you can  do.

Old age is no place for sissies.

The really frightening thing about middle age is the knowledge that you'll grow out of it.
Doris Day

There is always some specific moment when we become aware that our youth is gone; but, years after, we know it was much later.
Mignon McLaughlin

Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.
Dorothy Canfield Fisher

These are all poignant quotes and thoughts on the topic of aging and death. It's natural to fear the unknown and the inevitability of our own mortality, but it's important to remember that aging can also bring wisdom, new experiences, and meaningful relationships. We should strive to make the most of the time we have, no matter what age we are, and embrace the changes that come with life's journey.
